If you find yourself asking the question “What’s Wrong With My Voice?” because your voice cracks when you try to hit the high notes then I’ve got good news for you. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with your voice. You just need to practice more. There’s an idea out there that people are great at something (like singing) because of some innate greatness but that’s simply not true (read Malcom Gladwell’s Outliers for more insight on this.)

If you start doing singing lessons 5 or 6 days a week (take a day off every once in awhile to rest your voice) then you will start seeing great improvements in your overall vocal tone as well as an expansion of your vocal range (so that your voice will no longer crack when you go up high.)

Of course the next question is what kind of singing lessons should you do? You always have the option of private vocal lessons but you may not want to go that route for a number of reasons, the biggest of which is that it’s extremely expensive to pay for a singing lessons in that way (since you have to pay for each lesson individually.) Another reason not to choose a local vocal coach is you may not yet feel comfortable singing in front of someone else who is judging your vocals. But the best reason not to choose a local vocal teacher is that a lot of them don’t really teach you the best methods. A lot of them use outdated methods that are not very effective. And a lot of them will not give you the encouragement that you need.

Instead I recommend online singing lessons. They are far less expensive (because you have to pay only one time for unlimited lessons.) You also get access to them immediately, in fact you can be practicing with online singing lessons within minutes from right now. Another great reason to go this route is that you will be learning to sing using the latest and greatest methods so that you will reach your singing goals much faster.
