I’ve put all of my hard work and my own creativity into this video (lip trills and tongue trills at the same time, etc). I’m giving it away for free, so I hope you enjoy this information and put it to good use. The sources for the ‘black stallion and komodo dragon’ picture I use at the end of the video are: ‘crazy-frankenstein.com’ & ‘www.k12.hi.us’
I’ve listened to and tried my best on ‘how to sing’ programs such as: Singing Success, The Zen of Screaming 1 & 2, + some other singing programs; although these programs helped out a little bit, I’ve had to figure most of what works on my own. I’ve also looked up a trillion videos on how to sing on the internet, and have read some books on singing and read information on how to sing on the internet. So I’ve put all of my hard work and my own creativity into this video (lip trills and tongue trills at the same time, going from a grunt to a scream, etc). I believe this short video will help you out more with singing than any singing program that you would have to buy. I’ve spent over 5.5 years of non-stop brain cramming figuring out all of this stuff, and I’m giving it away for free, so I hope you enjoy this information and put it to good use. The picture I use at the beginning is just a collage of random pictures I found on google. The song (Chopin – Waltz No. 6 in D flat major) doesn’t completely finish because the video is not long enough

Beginning in breathing exercises for your body there are eight steps to the first exercise. You can by imagining your lungs as a tire around your entire body, contracting and expanding on the sides of your torso and your back, in addition to the front. To the count of three draw in a steady breath; wait for the count of three thinking of your breath as suspended instead of being held. To the count of five allow your breath to flow outward. Listen to your blowing breath and try to keep the breath even and wait for a slow count of three. Repeat this exercise.
Another breathing exercise as you lie flat on the floor and slowly raise your right leg to a 90 degree angle. While holding this position to the count of three, breathe in slowly. Breathing out slowly lower your leg to the floor and then repeat the exercise with your left leg. Raising both legs at the same time while pulling in your abdomen will build up and tighten the muscles required for proper breathing. Repeat this exercise five times with each leg and then with both legs.
Another set of breathing exercises has someone standing on the floor bending over at the hips, not the waist to keep the spine straight and be sure not to lock your knees allowing them to soften with a slight bend. Feel your arms, body and face relax, become like a rag doll. Inhale so that you may feel an expansion in your lower body, your thighs and low back. Now stand up placing your hands on opposite shoulders crisscrossing your arms being careful not to lock your knees or tense up. Relax the pelvic muscles and your stomach; breathe in feeling this same lower body expansions however do not move your shoulders. Repeat these movements slowly 10 times.
A few vocal exercises one can do to help their breathing before singing or public speaking include saying the following with the vowels in an Italian manner say “la” and “le” (saying “la” rather than “la-uh” and “le” rather than “lay-ee” ). Join the vowels “e” and “a” together with an “I” in an arc of sound while flicking your tongue briskly in order to make the “I” sound as short as possible.
Another helpful vocal exercise to help with breathing is to say the Italian vowels a, e, i, o, u, prefixed by the lips constant “m”. There are many Internet sites with pronunciation keys that will pronounce vowels sounds in Italian so that one will become familiar with the sounds and be able to pronounce them on their own. Another helpful hint is to spring your lips apart in order to allow the right vowel sound to be projected and flow while producing the correct “m” sound. Always keep the flow of your breath constant throughout these vocal exercises.

Singing lessons for a beginner need to cover the basics an provide something they can practice for a life time. Sometimes, singers jump in too fast and they may get in over their heads with complicated singing lessons. It’s not necessary. You can learn to sing with a few basic principles if you’re smart. Just find a nice guide that gives you the essentials for a beinner. This may be a good vocal coach, a good book or or some kind of course that you can follow to reach your dreams.
Acquiring a knowledgeable teacher is the first step to ensuring the correct basic exercises are taught. Music schools and colleges provide lessons and teachers for beginner singers. Private tuition is an option for those not keen on attending group lessons. Once you have found a teacher you are comfortable with remember to develop a natural voice. Using your own natural singing voice and style is the best thing any beginner singer can do. By copying your favorite singer means you are hiding your natural sound – something that makes you different and unique.
You must learn to control your breathing. If you holding your breath while singing it never produces a natural sound or tone. Learn to let the air flow while singing is the aim. Learning diaphragmatic breathing is essential. This means you must breathe into the lower part of your lungs by breathing deeply. There are many breathing exercises you can learn to help you achieve this such as lying down and placing a hand on the upper chest and a hand on the lower chest under the ribcage. When you breathe in the hand on the upper chest should not move and the hand on the lower chest should go up and down.

Anytime you plan to sing, you should start out with some warmup vocal exercises. Singing is really a physical activity. The act of singing puts quite a strain on different parts of the body. Throat, lungs, chest, vocal chords–all of these body parts get a workout when you sing. So you need to get them warmed up and stretched out just like you do before a run or playing in the big game. Vocal warmups will help you sing better and prevent injury.
Once you start to sing, your breathing will make the biggest difference in how you sound. First you have to make sure you’re breathing deeply. To fill your lungs for singing, you need to breathe in so that you feel your lungs and chest expand. Babies breathe this way naturally, but the older we get, the more shallow our breathe. Rediscover deep breathing. The other part of breathing is maintaining control when you exhale. Singing on pitch, holding notes out to their full length, every aspect of singing well is related to controlling your breath.
Finally, you need practice. Regardless of how much natural talent you may have, raw talent needs to be harnessed and disciplined. Your vocal chords need exercise and training. Professional athletes practice all the time, and so do professional singers. Practicing doesn’t mean you’re stuck at a basic singing level. Vocal practice is essential if you want to make full use of your singing talent.
So there you have it, three basic singing tips you can start using right now. Never sing without warming up your vocal chords first. Learn to breathe in deeply and maintain control when you exhale. And keep practicing to reach the levels you want to achieve. It doesn’t matter what you sound like today, with training and practice, everyone can sing better.
