Singing is not just singing. Along with it are techniques that make the singing more pleasing to the listeners’ ears and a performer that also charms the audience. When it comes to perfecting your singing voice, you can find some singing tips and techniques that can be very useful to adopt aside from your singing lessons as well.

How to scream like a rockstar

If you want to sing like a rockstar, one of the singing tips and techniques that you might want to learn is to do the rockstar scream. In doing such, you need to learn the correct breathing and learning to store enough air in your diaphragm to help you scream without losing your voice for the remainder of the song. This is usually done by taking little sips of air and not letting it all out when you scream. If your screaming hurts, then you most probably are not doing it correctly.

How to breathe through your diaphragm

Proper breathing is an important technique in singing. The air supply you have is your another tool in singing better. Breathing from your diaphragm is the proper way to store air for your singing. The diaphragm is found below your lungs and you will know that you are breathing from it because it will make your stomach expand and contract when you inhale and exhale. You can practice this breathing by lying down and putting your hand on your stomach to feel your breathing.

Warm up exercises before singing

Warming up is not just for sports and other physical exercises but it is also good in singing. If you get to warm up your voice with vocalization, you must realize that you have to do a little warming up with your jaw muscles. You might not realize that your jaw muscles can be tensed, which can prevent you from hitting higher tones. It can also help to massage your facial muscles like those in the forehead and the chin. This helps in getting rid of the tension and allowing you to sing effortlessly.

Other warm up exercises you can do before singing is humming, singing the scale and an important exercise called lip trill where you blow air with your closed lips making it vibrate naturally and producing a ‘vibrating’ sound. Doing vocal warm ups and practicing your songs helps a lot not only in perfecting the tones but also help you in building muscle memory especially with those difficult to master notes in your song.

Practice your diction

Your diction when singing may be different from that when speaking, thus one of the singing tips and techniques to keep in mind is to practice proper diction. This will help you convey the message of your song to your audience and deliver the emotion that your song is trying to give the audience, and this is important in being a great singer.

Aside from these singing tips and techniques, do not forget to relax before going to any performance, as this will help you a lot in reaching your best vocal performance. Believe in yourself as well to help you give your best.
